Hiep Nguyen, Ph.D. is a building systems and HVAC specialist in the geothermal industry with over a decade of experience in energy efficiency, mechanical design, and advanced building performance analysis. His work spans large-scale infrastructure and retrofit projects, including energy modeling, system diagnostics, and performance optimization for complex HVAC and geothermal systems. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and was a recipient of the prestigious NSERC CGS-D scholarship. His doctoral research on concrete caissons with phase change materials (PCM) as thermal energy storage led to a patented energy pile design for Capture. Hiep has consulted on and designed geothermal HVAC systems for organizations such as Aecon, Enbridge, and Stantec, and now applies this expertise toward advancing Capture’s patented caisson-based solution for building heating and cooling.
